MWAH! troupe alumnus Joshua Welton has been nominated for a Grammy. The
nomination is for the category of ‘Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.’

The album, ‘Hit N Run Phase Two,’ is a sequel to Joshua’s previous work as
producer for the artist Prince, who, according to the Midwest Medical
Examiner’s Office, died April 21, 2016 at his home near Minneapolis from an
accidental overdose of Fentanyl, an opioid drug prescribed for pain relief.

Joshua, now age 26, was a dedicated member of the MWAH! troupe for about
five years, beginning when he was about 14 and while living with his parents
in Aurora, Illinois. He has rejoined the troupe as a guest artist on
several occasions.

In an August 2015 interview with Ebony magazine, Joshua described his
hook-up with Prince through Joshua’s wife, Hannah, whose skills as a drummer
had previously been discovered by Prince. Mentioned in the interview was
Joshua’s reaction to being part of Prince’s concert at the White House in
June 2015, including Joshua’s jamming with Stevie Wonder and the ‘amazing
hospitality’ from President Obama and his family.

The Grammys will be aired February 12, 2017 on CBS.
